We made a delicious swiss roll. We used the whisking method. It was very quick and easy as the sponge only took 10 minutes to cook in the oven! The hardest part was separating the egg whites from the yolk. They were light and spongy. We filled the swiss roll with jam and cream and rolled it up. Blog post by Anna & Ella:
"Today we made sticky chocolate drop cakes using the melting method. We have been learning about how raising agents work in class - today we used both natural and chemical raising agents to ensure they brownies rose in the oven! We introduced air into the mixture by sieving the flour for our natural raising agent. We also used a chemical raising agent - baking powder (acid + base) which is in self-raising flour. When mixed with a liquid, the chemical reaction makes the brownies rise in the oven. We really enjoyed making and eating these scrumptious brownies! Blog post by Sola & Abbey:
Today we made chocolate chip cupcakes. We added all of our ingredients into a large mixing bowl using the all in one method and mixed them all together using the electric whisk. Then we added chocolate chips and put them in the oven. They smelt delicious. When we took them out of the oven we let them cool and put purple glace icing on them. We decorated them with marshmallows and chocolate buttons. They tasted delicious and we will for sure be making them again !!!!! : ) Blog post by Áine and Abi:
"This week in Home Economics class we made fluffy Scones, with a golden brown top.. mouth-watering to say the very least. There were only 4 ingredients in the recipe and therefore a very simple and adjustable recipe that could be easily modified. They were egg-free meeting many allergy requirements. They were delicious and simple and easy for anyone to make!" Blog post by Laura and Mary:
"Today we baked sweet scones using the rubbing-in method. This recipe is very easy to make as all you need is 4 ingredients - flour, sugar, milk and butter! We glazed the top to give them a nice golden colour. When they came out of the oven they were golden and well risen, with a lovely soft texture on the inside. I can't wait to try them with jam and cream and we will definitely make them again!" Blog Post by Grace & Dalin:
"Today we made a Chocolate Loaf Cake. It was fun and challenging to make. When it came out of the oven, it had a delicious aroma! It tasted chocolatey, smooth, warm and splendid. It is perfect and easy to make for a family gathering" Blog Post by Aisling & Wiktoria:
"Today we made chocolate loaf cake. it was our first time baking in Ms. Teeling's class. It was hard at first but it got easier as we went on. When we put the cake in the oven the room filled with a chocolatey smell. We took the cake out when it had risen and was spongy to touch, decorated the loaf cake with chocolate buttons and watched them melt" |
