Today St Melissa made Pizza in class. We all really enjoyed this because most of us love pizza. First we made the dough which was a lot of fun as we had to kneed the dough which we found very relaxing. Next we chopped up the ingrediants that we wanted on the pizza. Everyone had a different combination of ingredients so everyone had a unique taste. After that we made the sauce some of us added spices to the sauce to suit them selves. Overall each pizza was very unique in its taste, texture and appearance, and we all enjoyed making them.

After Christmas the TY students were offered the opportunity to enter the TY Louth & Area Cupcake Competition. The school heat of this competition took place in January with a tremendous response. The teachers in the Home Economics department had the pleasure of tasting a huge selection of cupcakes. The following students were sent forward to represent The Sacred Heart Secondary School in the Competition semi finals taking place in Our Lady's College, Greenhills on Wednesday 29th January 2020.

Amy Mc Cann and Aoife Gerrard - Willy Wonka Cupcakes
Aisling Armstrong and Libby Svejdar -  Afternoon Tea Cupcakes
Ellen Mc Kenna and Leah Gough - Sea Otter Cupcakes
Niamh O'Regan & Ciara Mc Loone -Sponge Bob Square Pants

The students travelled to Our Lady’s College, Greenhills to participate in the competition competing against schools in the local area, Our Lady's College, Greenhills, St Mary’s Diocesan School, and Cloiste Na Hince. The students baked, decorated and presented their cupcakes and waited on the esteemed judge to announce who will go forward to the final on Thursday 30th January. The Sacred Heart girls impressed the judges with their beautiful cupcakes and all students went through to the final.
Our students made the short journey across the Boyne to Our Lady's Greenhills on Thursday for the Final. The smell of freshly baked cupcakes filled the corridors once more. The students baked, decorated and presented their cupcakes with great creativity. The judges had a hard task ahead. After plenty of deliberation the judges reached their decision.
The Sacred Heart Secondary School was awarded third prize. Congratulations to Amy Mc Cann and Aoife Gerrard who received third place with their magnificent Wonka cupcakes. Congratulations to Our Lady's College, Greenhills students who received both first and second prize.
The students had two very busy mornings baking cupcakes and they all enjoyed every minute of the experience. The host school Our Lady's College, Greenhills made this experience most enjoyable and could not have looked after us more. Thank you to Ms. A. Byrne and Ms. N. O'Sullivan for hosting a wonderful, well organised competition.

Congratulations to Amy and Aoife for receiving third place. Well done to Aisling Armstrong, Libby Svejdar,  Ellen Mc Kenna, Leah Gough, Niamh O'Regan & Ciara Mc Loone for all of your hard work and making the most beautiful cupcakes.
