What is covered in Home Economics at Leaving Certificate?
The Senior Cycle syllabus is based on three core areas of study that is studied by all students, and one elective area.
Core Areas of Study:
Elective
The elective allows students the opportunity to undertake a more detailed study of one area of the core. This is worth 20% of the written paper.
There are three electives, one of these must be chosen:
The Coursework Journal
20% of the grade at Leaving Certificate is based on a coursework journal which is completed before the written paper.
The coursework journal is a written account of four assigned cookery practicals undertaken in class.
