Today in St.Gemma's Home Ec class we made scones. We used the rubbing-in method. It was quite easy. We just needed to rub the butter into the flour and sugar until it looked like breadcrumbs. We had to knead the dough so that they rose evenly. They ended up looking good. They tasted good too! Home-made brown bread made by 1st years during their 1st cooking practical class. Excellent work by all students!
Ms. Teeling's First year classes took part in a demonstration of Jammy Coconut Biscuits. They learnt about the key skills that are used in the making of the biscuits, the importance of safety and hygiene in the kitchen and recipe modification.
